According to recently released figures by JEITA, Japanese domestic shipment volume of mobile phones reached approximately 4.12 million units in the third quarter of 2005, representing 10.7% year-on-year growth. Shipment volume for the first half of the fiscal year 2005, lasting from April to September, amounted to 21.90 million units, which marked 0.6% decline year-on-year. 3G handset shipments grew to 15.22 million units in the first half of the fiscal year, 2G models accounted for 5.93 million units, and PHS models reached a volume of 741,000 units.
